The village of Braithwell is an old settlement which was recorded in the Domesday Book. It lies between Rotherham and Doncaster in a pretty landscape of fields and woodland. The oldest building in the village is St James Parish Church which dates from Norman times; the village cross bears a Norman inscription.
The Portland Stone war memorial, which commemorates the dead of two world wars, is grade two listed.
There are two pubs on Main street - the Butchers Arms and the Red Lion, and an excellent Nursery/Garden Centre, Plants of Special Interest which boasts a first class eatery,The Garden Room Restaurant.
An interesting Braithwell website for gardeners --- http://www.psinursery.co.uk/index.html
