The Small Hydro Company and Canal and River Trust is planning on changing this beautiful scenery for ever. Changing it for fishermen, for boaters. for walkers and ramblers, for photographers, for nature lovers, local people and for all those hundreds who just enjoy a stroll, a picnic or sit quietly with their memories and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I am only one of the many hundreds who love this spot, this area of outstanding natural beauty and SSI.  Details are not yet known but it is against logic to build anything on the island when the obvious site for a fish pass and buildings to harness the power of the falls is the far bank, where there would be space, and which could be landscaped.  Everybody knows that companies have to make a profit, but at our expense? |
