Two very different oil paintings of the view of St Mary's Church in Sprotbrough village from Heron hide on the nature reserve. The first has all the glorious
colours of Autumn, the second the misty early morning frosts of winter.

Both Heron hide and Kingfisher hide can be accessed just off the Trans Penine Trail
where it passes between Sprotbrough Flash nature reserve and the River Don in the Don Gorge.

Sprotbrough Flash is made up of diverse habitats that include open water, woodland and grassland. The River Don runs alongside the reserve and the
Trans - Pennine Trail which extends through the gorge running between the river and the reserve. Birds which breed on the reserve include
great crested grebe, gadwall reed warbler, mallare and swans. Around 112 species of birds are recorded annually.
My painting of the woodland on the Cadeby Road side of the old railway cutting and the title "Path Through Wild Garlic"
